What Is This Law AI Summer Fellowship 2026 About?
The fellowship is organized by the Institute for Law & AI, an independent think tank committed to ensuring that artificial intelligence is safe, fair, and beneficial for society. The organization works closely with governments, international bodies, and policy experts to shape responsible AI governance.
As a fellow, you will work with a mentor and develop your own research project based on your background, interests, and goals. You do NOT need to be an AI expert. Instead, the program seeks motivated individuals with a solid understanding of basic legal principles, especially those related to AI regulation in the EU.
Program Structure
The fellowship is split into two parts:
1. Remote Research Phase (8–10 weeks)
You will conduct research from home, collaborate online, attend meetings, and work with your assigned mentor.
2. On-Site Week in Cambridge
Dates: July 6 to 10, 2026
This is the highlight of the program. All fellows gather in Cambridge for workshops, discussions, networking, and final presentations.
What Does the Fellowship Cover? (Fully Funded)
The Institute for Law & AI covers everything, including:
- Weekly stipend of £1000
- Round-trip flights to the UK
- Accommodation during the on-site week
- Meals

Who Can Apply?
The fellowship is open to international applicants from all countries. You are encouraged to apply even if:
