The University of Genoa (UniGe) in Italy has officially opened its International Admissions (A.Y. 2026/27) for students holding non-Italian qualifications. Through the UniGeApply platform, international students can apply for Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Single-Cycle Degree programs and begin their journey toward studying in one of Italy’s top public universities.
This guide explains everything you need to know: deadlines, fees, required documents, eligibility, and next steps after acceptance.
What Is UniGeApply?
UniGeApply is the first and mandatory step for all students with foreign qualifications who wish to study at the University of Genoa. Your application is evaluated to verify your qualifications, language proficiency, and degree eligibility before you proceed with visa and enrollment procedures.
There are two admission calls every academic year:
1. Fall Session (For Visa Applicant Students)
Opening: 26 November 2025
Closing: 20 March 2026
Who can apply: Non-EU students applying from abroad who need a student visa
Application Fee: €30 (valid for up to 2 applications)
Outcome Announcement: 22 May 2026
This is the main session for international students applying from outside Italy.

2. Spring Session (For Resident Students)

Fee: Free (no payment required)

How Many Applications Can You Submit?
You may submit up to 1 or 2 applications.
If you paid the €30 fee (visa applicants), it covers both courses even if you submit the second application later.
How to Register on UniGeApply (Step-by-Step)
Step 1: Get UniGePass Credentials
You must create or use your existing UniGePass account.
- Do NOT register again if you already have credentials (e.g., S1234567).
- If you are new, register with the same personal details shown in your passport.
Step 2: Log in and Start Your Application
Fill out all required fields marked with (*) and upload the requested documents.

For Non-EU Students (Visa Applicants)
- Passport (mandatory, only accepted identity document)
For EU Students
- Passport or national identity card
For Non-EU Students Already in Italy (Spring Session)
- Passport
- Residence permit (permesso di soggiorno)
Other Required Document Uploads
- Passport & Photo: JPG format
- Academic Documents: PDF format, max 2 MB
- Portfolio: Up to 5 MB (only for relevant degrees)
Tips for Application Uploads
- Documents appear only after you choose a course
- Application cannot be saved as draft you must complete it in one go
- Status must show “Complete, pending evaluation”
- Missing mandatory documents = submission blocked
Selection Results Explained
You will receive one of the following decisions:
1. Accepted (Green)
You passed the pre-selection.
A downloadable receipt will be available.
2. Conditionally Accepted (Yellow)
You are accepted but must complete missing requirements (documents, curriculum, language proficiency).
3. Rejected (Red)
You do not meet admission requirements or your documents were insufficient.
Important: The office will NOT explain individual rejection reasons unless provided automatically in your result receipt.
Integration Request
If documents are missing or unclear, UniGe will request corrections.
You will have 3 weeks to upload updated files.
Reserved Places for Visa Applicants
Each Bachelor’s and Single-Cycle degree has a limited number of reserved seats for non-EU visa applicants.
If high acceptance numbers occur, UniGe may increase available seats.
After Acceptance: What Happens Next?
For Visa Applicant Students (Fall Session)
Step 1: Apply on Universitaly
Once accepted (even conditionally), you must submit your visa application through Universitaly.it.
You will re-upload:
- Academic documents
- Language certificates
- Updated passport copy
Universitaly Portal Expected Duration:
- Opens: March/April 2026
- Closes: June 2026
Applications outside these dates will be automatically rejected.
Step 2: Pre-Enrollment on UniGe Online Services
Only after Universitaly approves your application, you may begin UniGe pre-enrollment.
Pre-enrollment usually opens in April each year.
For Resident Students (Spring Session)
After acceptance:
- Go directly to UniGe Pre-Enrollment
- Upload documents and complete your enrollment steps
Pre-enrollment for residents also opens in April 2026.
Important Notes
- UniGeApply is only the first step.
- Final enrollment depends on completing all later steps.
- For programs with entrance tests, you must also pass the ranking.
